The jean jacket may be the most egalitarian article of clothing a man can own. Embraced over the years by both the Establishment and the anti-Establishment, it transcends time, class, and trends. Wear an inky version with a polo shirt and khakis and it’s unequivocally preppy; put the collar up on a washed-out model and it reads punk. But the most versatile and modern breed of denim jacket is close-cut and worn and looks like it came with a built-in history.
