Slow Down Christmas
I wish everyone would just slow down at Christmas
I hope we get a snow down at Christmas
Cause I don’t like when it’s all green
Isn’t the same without that white street scene
Reds and golds
Colours represent the story told
And don’t forget the meaning
Call it holidays, that’s demeaning
Hear that from you, I’m intervening
I’ve been dreaming of my family convening
Isn’t the same without Grandpa
Working together on that jigsaw
Just to past the time
Hope I can fall asleep come night time
Twenty-fourth looking forward to bedtime
Guess I’ll count sheep in the meantime
I remember back in ‘93
All the presents wrapped, under the tree
Christmas morn’, December twenty-five
Mom was sad so I had to contrive
Had an idea that I had to prepare
Something to fix my mother’s despair
I wrapped up my favourite teddy bear
Gave it to her, never forgot the stare
And the tears in her eyes
At the time I didn’t realize
What this meant to her
More then any diamonds and fur
Or that Tiffany’s bracelet
That made mama upset
The true meaning of Christmas
Slow down don’t miss this.
I wrote this four years ago.
