It’s official. I’m addicted to The Incident. More specifically using my iPhone as a controller to play The Incident.

Probably the sickest shot I’ve taken on my iPhone. No app was used in the making of this photo.

Paia, Maui.

Tonight I realized that my parents’ front door has a peep hole. Taken with iPhone camera.

I’ve started to use the Lose It! iPhone app. It’s been interesting keeping track of all the food I consume on a daily basis. I like bananas and soup and need to eat more veggies.

The iPhone SDK comes with the iPhone Simulator. Makes beginning stages of development seem like you actually know what you’re doing.

Didn’t realize how large the SDK is. I’m going to try to document things as I journey down the path of geek.

One of Those Great Apple Customer Service Stories, Plus a Lesson on Spending Money to Save Money

Yesterday my iPhone stopped working. It was telling me to sync, then it sank. Today I booked an appointment with my local Genius Bar. Their analysis, “yeah weird, doesn’t seem to be working, we’ll swap ya a new one”. Left 10 minutes later with a brand new iPhone. Synced it with my computer, now I’m back in business. Total repair / replacement costs: $0.00.

I’ve added Ramit Sethi’s I Will Teach You To Be Rich Blog to my daily reads. A couple of his posts from last week apply here.

How I’m saving $25,000+ in 2009, Tip #6: When I buy major purchases like cellphones, cars, or even coats, I buy the best and hold it for the long term. That sounds obvious, but most people who buy really nice stuff like to buy nice stuff all the time, meaning they never keep something for the long term.
And this little tidbit…
Stop being a loser and pay money to save money: Too many people think that “saving money” is about cutting costs relentlessly until they can cut no more. And then…what? Who wants to live like that? Reading some of the frugality sites, it becomes clear in about 2 minutes that you can’t outfrugal a nutty frugal person. And as they say, if you win the rat race, you’re still a rat. I’ve been crystal clear that when you buy things you want, you should focus on the value, not the cost.
With the spending money to save money theory you definitely have to think long term, but such is the case with any good investment. This year, I’ll probably spend just over $1000 on my iPhone. Last year, with my Blackberry I spent almost twice that because I had to replace a broken 8700 (around $300). Today I saved $300.
